Tairneanach Backups is a single-user backup utility for its owner's home server. This page explains how it uses Google account data. It is not offered as a service to other users.

Access and purpose

The utility requests Google Drive's drive.file permission through Google OAuth. It uses that permission to create, list, read, update, and delete the backup files and folders it uses in the owner's Google Drive. It does not request access to Gmail, Google Photos, or all existing Drive files.

Storage and security

Selected files from the owner's server are intended to be encrypted locally with rclone before they are uploaded to Google Drive. Google Drive stores the resulting encrypted backup files. OAuth credentials are kept in the owner's server configuration, not on this website. Operational logs may be kept on the owner's server to monitor backup and restore jobs. This public website does not collect Google account data or run analytics scripts.

Sharing and use

Google user data is used only to run, monitor, and restore the owner's backups. It is not sold, shared with advertisers, or used for advertising or model training. Backup files are transferred to Google Drive as the storage provider; this website is served by Cloudflare.

Retention and control

The owner controls how long backup files remain in Google Drive and may delete them there. Revoking OAuth access in Google Account settings stops further Drive access by this utility but does not itself delete files already stored in Drive. Local credentials and logs can be deleted from the server. Backup retention and scheduled deletion settings are established on the server.
